 Researchers at Bar-Ilan University in Israel have developed a groundbreaking encryption method designed to protect sensitive communications permanently - even if the encryption key is exposed years or decades in the future.

The research addresses a growing threat known as "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later," in which hostile actors record and store encrypted internet traffic today, waiting for the day when quantum computers or key exposure allow them to decrypt it retroactively. The Bar-Ilan team proved that certain standard encryption systems, when implemented correctly, are already "incompressible" - meaning an attacker would have no choice but to store every encrypted message in full, making large-scale interception and future decryption practically impossible. "It is like driving an ordinary car and suddenly discovering that it is bulletproof," said doctoral student Shani Ben-David. In an era where sensitive data may remain relevant for decades, Israeli science is once again leading the way.
