A Hebrew University of Jerusalem study challenges a fundamental assumption in climate science, revealing that aerosol particles - tiny particles suspended in the atmosphere - can have opposite effects on Earth's climate depending on how quickly the atmosphere responds. The same particles can warm the planet in the short term and cool it later, depending on how long the atmosphere has had to respond. The finding could significantly improve climate models.
