On this day, May 18, 1965, Eli Cohen captured by Syrian authorities, put on trial for espionage, and publicly hanged in Damascus on May 18, 1965.
His remains are still in Syria, and his legacy stands as a testament to the sacrifices made for Israel's security. His heroic story was even adapted into the Netflix series The Spy.
