 Researchers at Bar-Ilan University in Israel, have developed a breakthrough technology that can detect the earliest toxic signs of Alzheimer's disease - signs that current clinical tests routinely miss.

The Israeli team created a unique family of ring-shaped molecules that can identify tiny protein clusters in the brain called amyloid-beta oligomers, which researchers believe may appear years, even decades, before memory loss begins. The technology played a central role in a new international study published in Alzheimer's & Dementia, the journal of the Alzheimer's Association, conducted together with researchers at Mount Sinai in New York and collaborators in Canada. The discovery could transform how Alzheimer's is diagnosed and treated, enabling doctors to intervene during the silent phase of the disease - before a single symptom appears. Prof. Rahimipour has since co-founded ApexBio, a startup developing the technology for clinical use, with Phase 1 human trials on the horizon.
